The Port Credit Village Project is pleased to announce an exhibition of one of the competitors for the ArtConnect project. “THE CURRENT” made by artist Peter Sutherland represents both a modern and a historical connection to our call for a public art sculpture to celebrate Port Credit’s 175th anniversary“. This sculpture is proposed to be installed in front of the Port Credit Library.
The ArtConnect Project is a public art project organized to select and identify art installation ideas to best represent the essence of Port Credit’s history and spirit. The objective is to assist in the creation of great public space – one which enhances, energizes and defines its surroundings, generating civic pride and a definite sense of place.
Our waterfront community of Port Credit, located just west of Toronto, is a place of significant history and much community affection for its enhancement. The Port Credit Village Project, a diverse community group, will exhibit a model sculpture “The Current” in the vestibule of Port Credit Library. The sculptor is Peter Sutherland in which he delivers a striking interpretation of the central part played by the Credit River in this community.
